About
Well, here goes the essay “Myself” we used to write in 2nd class.
My name is Utkarsh Sinha. People often refer to me as liquidmetal, hence the name of the site. I’m pursuing BE Computer Science + MSc Mathematics at BITS-Pilani, Goa Campus, and am currently in the third year of studies. I am good at web designing/programming, “normal” programming and average at OpenGL/other graphics APIs. Other than these, I am working on image processing (with MATLAB and OpenCV) and a bit of electronics.
I’ve been interested in computers ever since I got access to computers, in 2nd class I think… when colour monitors were a privilege and Windows 3.1 was the way to go (Windows 95 on the more modern comps). Then we got a comp at home and thus got the first experience of programming: Logo, then Basic, then C++. I was hooked.
While all of this was going on, we got internet! It was really great! Though downloading even a 10mb file required hours of waiting.
Since then I’ve got interested in a lot of diverse fields. Networking, neural networks and a bit of compiler design. Image processing is the most recent of those.
Besides computers and tech stuff, I like doing static/motion graphics. Especially visual effects. Like the ones you’ve seen in movies. And someday, you’ll probably see my name rolling through in a DreamWorks movie, or something.
And I also like performing Magic. Yes, I do magic! My magic is mostly the up-close magic (remember David Blaine?) with playing cards and coins, and some weird things too! I have tried doing magic for larger groups (on stage, in huge rooms, etc) but it turns out that the magic that I know doesn’t work well for a huge audience.
If you happen to be an English teacher by any chance, you’ll most probably hate me at first. I don’t know why but this has been the case since school. But you’ll eventually turn neutral to me
.
Oh, btw, why don’t you leave me a message on this website? Or maybe add me as a friend on facebook. Or stalk me on twitter.
PS: If you’re wondering what the “CompSci + Maths” course is, go google for “BITS dual degree”. You’ll probably end up visiting the bits360 forum. So here’s the link: bits360 forums
